Project name

New Indico module for Paper Review and Edit documentation and promotion

Project description

The group Collaboration, Devices and Applications (CDA) in CERN IT Department provides a big number of services which are very visible to the end-user, under-going continuous development, while ensuring top quality availability and support.

New Indico Paper Review & Edit module

The Indico module on Conference Paper Review & Edit is undergoing a major re-design. The code is expected to be mature early July. This student will:

  1. update the relevant documentation section,
  2. make an online tutorial (screen capture with voice over) and
  3. design training exercises for new users (conference organisers and paper reviewers).

Process

More useful links than the ones below are in the "References" section of this page.

  • Make a fork of the documentation in github and write the Conference Paper Review & Edit documentation in Markdown directly there - Github location here. Include screenshots and the videos (when done) as per the other documentation sections - Published doc location here.
  • Set-up a login "tunnel to CERN" to access internal resources. Instructions here.
    • A more sophisticated description of how to tunnel through lxplus.cern.ch here (you need your CERN login to read these instructions and you need to replace aiadm by lxplus.
  • Use the Indico testbed  to create dummy conferences (Maria will kick-start this). You need to login to indico.cern.ch once, before the Indico manager authorises you to access the testbed.
  • Use  mattermost with your CERN login for internal communication with the team.

Outcome

Luca Ciabini completed an excellent work as a volunteer student. Document with links to results here.
